The Highway Police was formulated in the year 1993. Previously it was known as the State Traffic Branch. A Traffic Engineering Unit under an Executive Engineer works under this unit and analyses the causes of accidents and suggests preventive measures. Currently, the Highway Police has 43 Traffic Aid Posts on the prominent National & State Highways.
